LATEST NEWSLETTER
THE REACHER REPORT Jack Reacher in Gone Tomorrow, Spring 2009
So, it's April ... which means:
Next year's book should be finished ... check.
Last year's book should be out in paperback ... check.
This year's book should be out in hardcover soon ... check.
It's time to get laundry done for my tours ... check.
NOTHING TO LOSE is out in paperback everywherecertainly in the English language markets. If
you're subscribed to this newsletter you probably bought it in hardcover, but tell your friends.
This year's book GONE TOMORROW releases in the UK on April 23rd, and in the US on May 19th:
Suicide bombers are easy to spot. They give out all kinds of tell-tale signs. Mostly because they're nervous.
By definition they're all first-timers. Riding the subway in New York at two o'clock in the morning, Reacher
knows the twelve giveaway signs to look out for. Watching one of his fellow-passengers, he becomes sharply
aware: one by one, she ticks off every bulletpoint on his list.
It's already available in Australia and New Zealand. It's a first-person storywe're back in Reacher's
head. I enjoyed writing it very much and I think it came out quite well. Can't wait to hear your opinions!
Lots of other interesting things going on: You can get a free e-book download of PERSUADER through ReadLeeChild.com ... from May 4th you can read the first five chapters of GONE TOMORROW on BloodOnThePage.com ... if you buy the UK e-book of NOTHING TO LOSE, you get a free short animated movie of GONE TOMORROW's opening sceneI've seen it, it's amazingand there will be an edited version acting as a trailer very soon. We'll put it up on the site, or tell you how to get it, or both.
I start the touring season in Holland on Wednesday April 15. It's wall-to-wall media12 interviews in two
days, plus three dinnersbut ... they just added a public event, 6pm on Thursday April 16th at the American
Book Center in Amsterdam. If you're in town, I would love to see you.
Full details on Holland, UK, US tours and more are posted on the website Appearances page.
Then I head for London and start the UK tour on Monday 20th April. Again, would love to see you at an event.
I will be blogging from the road, and Maggie tells me you can take pictures with telephones now, so we decided
the blog should feature ... you. I'll be photographing the audience at every stop, and Maggie will put the
pictures up on the blog.
Then I fly home just in time for the Mystery Writers of America's Edgar Awards Banquet. This year I am the
organization's national presidentand I'm the MC for the banquet. (In these tough times we had to
find an idiot who would work for nothing.) You don't have to be a member to come to the awardsso if you
fancy a night in New York, check out TheEdgars.com.
Then ... the US tour starts on May 19. I'll have a guest at some of the events ... my brother
Andrew Grant, whose debut thriller EVEN
is published in the US on May 12th. (July 3rd in the UK.) A couple of years ago I had Cornelia Read as a guest
at some stops, and I hope Andrew will be just as much fun. EVEN is a fine book (not as good
as GONE TOMORROW, but hey.)
This year in the US I'm stopping at some military bases, so if you're off-duty, see you at the PX!
Very best wishes,
Lee
